Prior to his drug-related arrest, Rob Van Dam was in line for a major run as ECW Champion. Although he was going to lose the WWE Championship at SNME, WWE was not going to remove the ECW belt from Van Dam until next year.
Rob Van Dam will be pushed upon returning to ECW television, although he will likely need to regain the company's trust before being granted another title run. Vince McMahon was finally coming around regarding the wrestler, but the incident (and rumored RVD's nonchalant attitude regarding the fallout) likely destroyed some of that newfound confidence.
Sabu was also in-line to receive a huge push, although his present status is not yet known. The promo video on last week's show, however, implies that Sabu, who was very apologetic about what happened, will not lose his spot near the top the ECW roster.

Wow! Looks like WWE really had a high hopes for RVD if they were gonna keep the ECW Championship on him till next year!! Just a shame all this drugs thing happened

Even with these charges looming over RVD and the suspension in affect for 30 days he will get the ECW title back IMO shortly after his return from Big Show.
