The past week has seen a lot of decisions made and attention focused on the ECW project. According to many, this is Vince McMahon's new "pet project", which is good for ECW fans as anything McMahon is heavily behind is something he will stop at nothing to get over. The general thought regarding the longevity of the ECW brand as a full-time returning entity is that it will start out hot due to the name value, but due to x-factors like the questionable roster, taping schedule and lack of TV, and general structure it will burn out fast.
ECW will be launched as a seperate brand on 6/7 during a special live broadcast on the USA Network. The show will be held in Dayton, Ohio that night from 9-11PM, and will be billed as "ECW vs. RAW vs. SmackDown!" as the feeling is Vince McMahon isn't confident "ECW" can draw good ratings on its' own, but that the addition of RAW and SmackDown! "superstars" on an ECW special show will make it seem special enough to draw a good number on an unfamiliar night. The show is designed to set a few angles up for the One Night Stand PPV airing on 6/11, that weekend.
