The backstage word on Carlito's release is that he did not fail an actual Wellness Test which was what was originally thought. Carlito reportedly showed up at Monday's Raw from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada clearly under the influence of some type of substance. He met with officials at the taping and they deemed him "not capable" of performing. Apparently it was then that officials requested he enter a rehabilitation program to save his job. Carlito declined and was subsequently released

Wow, kinda a big release there. Although he entered the WWE so strong and even getting the IC belt, he soon became a lesser character quick. I feel somewhere in the middle would of been best for you. A shame if he has problems though. Hopefully he can clear them up and he'd be a nice fit in TNA I think!

Primerahora.com conducted an interview with Carlito's father, Carlos Colon, where he spoke about his son's release from WWE. Carlos revealed that Carlito is suffering from an addiction to painkillers. The interview was in Spanish but with the help of Google Translator, below are the notable quotes in English:
"I want to clarify that Carly was not suspended for using cocaine, or heroin or marijuana, but for abuse of" painkillers "(painkillers), which is not unusual in the fighters because they cause pain falls and blows, combined with the constant traveling. Carly started using one or two for his back pain, but it seems that the situation has become much more serious and needs help,"
Carlos added that his son's back problems stem from the pressure his Backstabber finisher puts on his back.
Carlito was released from WWE on May 21, 2010 when he showed up at Raw on Monday, May 17, 2010 unfit to perform

Really a shame to hear he is addicated to pain killers due to his body pains. Hopefully he can heal up and TNA and Carlito would definiately be a good fit and I'd like to see him there!
