Ok, seeing as everyone is doing it lately, I have decided to start up my old job of writing columns for wrestling websites. And this is an ICEMAN Boards exclusive write-up.
Welcome to the first edition of "Troubled Waters". This article is titled "Help, I'm a WCW cloned writer"
now for what its worth, I have been a fan of wrestling since Wrestlemania 3. I actually watched it and remember the 'worldwide slam' given to Andre the giant by the Hulkster.
but as this isn't titled "wrestling history", it is indeed titled " Help, I am a cloned WCW writer". There is a few things I have noticed in TNA that clone what WCW have 'attempted' in the past. The MAJOR one being this "Main event mafia". Don't get me wrong, "IF" it doesn't go overboard like a re-incarnation of nWo then it 'may' work. But I have seen this whole 'Older Vs. Younger' generation storyline before.
Anyone remember the New Blood Vs. Millionaires Club angle in WCW?
This angle, done in late 2000, was 2 factions fighting over what they deemed as "the guys who made (or will make) the company".
and just for the record, here is the list of 'members':
New Blood
* Lance Storm
* Mike Awesome
* Buff Bagwell
* Bam Bam Bigelow
* Chris Candido
* Crowbar
* Disco Inferno
* Shane Douglas
* David Flair
* Goldberg
* Juventud Guerrera
* Horace Hogan
* Jeff Jarrett
* Mark Jindrak
* Johnny the Bull
* Kanyon
* Kidman
* Konnan
* Ernest Miller
* Rey Misterio, Jr.
* Sean O'Haire
* Chuck Palumbo
* Reno
* Mike Sanders
* Shawn Stasiak
* Scott Steiner
* Vampiro
* Big Vito
* The Wall
* Shane Helms
and Millionaires Club members:
Ric Flair
Lex Luger
Miss Elizabeth
Hulk Hogan
Diamond Dallas Page
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
Macho Man Randy Savage
Terry Funk
Curt Hennig
Sting
Sid Vicious
Kevin Nash
Scott Hall
Now thats out of the way, This whole storyline in TNA is pretty much a clone of the above storyline. even with both versions having the 'authority/boss figures' run with the young guys.
Now I hope that this isn't going to rip apart the TNA company like it has with WCW, and even TNA doing their own version many years ago with the faction known as S.E.X. The only difference is that the 'young guys' are playing the faces and the older guys playing the heels.
I just wish the ex-WCW writing staff that make up most of the TNA writing staff try to put new and innovative ideas on the tables so fans like me don't recognize a dusted off replay, like I have above
---------------------------------------
And just a side note, What is happening lately, what is this?
"Month Of Respect" crap all of a sudden. Not only is TNA doing it (and thank god they have actually let it float over a few months, bringing it in slowly) but now I actually saw WWE sneak it into the Jericho/Bastista confrontation the other night on Raw. Talk about running out of ideas..
