new TNA Title

The word backstage at the TNA iMPACT! tapings tonight in Orlando is that the company will be introducing a new championship title belt soon. While the specifics are not yet known, the title belt is rumored to be a "legends" title and will be introduced by Booker T.

I have liked TNA only having 4 championships. I wouldn't disagree with such idea of another title. However, the only purpose idea for another title in TNA I like is to have Women's Tag Team. I am in favor of the Women's division getting bigger in TNA. It's something WWE hasn't done, and I don't think WWE will do. If TNA goes with a "Legends" title I have to believe WWE will jump at copying the idea to make a 10th title in WWE, and a possible 2nd title on ECW, so they have to becareful with adding another championship!

when you think of it. TNA introducing a Legends title 'aint' such a bad thought. I am personally 50/50 on it and heres why:

in favour: Another title is a great idea at this stage. The last title that they introduced was the Knockout Title, it was introduced exactly ONE year ago (on the 10th) and they have used a good solid year to introduce it and it has worked, it lives up to its name as the women who wrestle for this strap actually do a 'knockout' job of making it worthy to watch. Same goes for the X title, it reinvented what we were only used to seeing for the cruiserweight division. And now a Legends strap, lets list the legends in TNA:

Team 3D (storyline i suppose)
Booker T
Kurt Angle (always think how wrestling for 9 years in S.E. can consider you a legend)
Mick Foley
Sting
Jerrett (not sure if he sticks around or not)
Nash
Scott Steiner (now compared to angle, he is more of a legend)
also Rhyno is on my personal list

thats it, 10 roughly can be considered for the strap. but according to a report I saw online. Booker will 'defend' it against people he considers to be above the 'rookie' level.

and here comes the bad thing about it. With only short hours of tv to use on one show, do you think TNA is ready to have another title? And with this Vets vs Rookies respect storyline taking up most of the show (which in my opinion is a really riveting story) I am noticing there is no time to have others wrestle on the show. personally think TNA need to get another show or even Xplosion into a Half Hour or an hour show on a network and get the X title or something over to give it recognition.

Yeah i think with this TNA should think about possibly getting another show on the go, the thing with WWE yes they have 9 titles but they have three shows and that adds up to 5 hours of tv time. TNA has 1 show 2 hours of tv time and will have 5 titles. I personally think this may affect the quality of TNA because they will be trying to squash in as many of the titles into impact as possible. Dont get me wrong i dont think its a bad idea having a new title i just think they should deffo think about what there doing/gonna do.

There might be a problem with TNA getting another show. Just because WWE has 3 shows is probably why TNA might be holding out on another show. I mentioned something about this before, but here I go again. Currently there is 4 nights out of the week that have wrestling shows. That don't include each month having atleast 2 sundays with PPVs.

If TNA would go for another show during week at prime time without competting against WWE, then they would have to have a Wednesday show along with Impact being on Thursdays (and it's taped)

The only other way for them to manage having 5 titles like explained already in this thread is to make Impact a 3 hour show. I think this would be more likely, because they can't expect people to watch 5 straight nights of wrestling unlless if they do a prime time Saturday show, but there might be a problem with that too. Why have another night of wrestling when they can just make a deal with Spike TV to add 3 hours to Impact?

still think the next belt should've been a "Spike TV Title", that would've been like a thankyou to Spike TV and also may make Spike think about giving them a 3 hours show/another show?

my personal feelings is the new title looks really good, and does NOT take the spotlight away from the TNA title. Sure enough it looks prettier, BUT I see the TNA title looks like it has some respect and class with it. (not like the 'spinner' title in WWE)

I saw when Booker T brought it out and introduced it, not bad. Cool having another title in TNA too. I always felt they needed another strong belt, like an Intercontinental Belt, since the X-Division Belt is more like a Cruiser weight belt. So, this could be a good idea.

Nice belt, also thought it should have been a TNA Spike TV belt. This title also runs with a possibly short term story line, might not make the most sense.
