Affliction 2 "Postponed"
MMARated has this:
MMARated.com has learned that the second Affliction show scheduled for October 11th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been cancelled.
The show was set to feature a main event heavyweight eliminator between Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovksi.
As of this morning, the event was taken off the Thomas & Mack Center's schedule.
No word just yet on the reasoning behind the cancellation but we had heard that tickets sells have been quite poor. We've heard that as low as 700 tickets had been been sold for the event. For ring events, the Thomas & Mack Center can hold up up to 19,522 spectators.
Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
MMA Weekly has this:
Affliction’s “Day of Reckoning,” is on hold.
The clothing company turned fight promoter’s second pay per view event, scheduled for Oct. 11 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, has been postponed until Jan. 17.
According to an Affliction representative MMAWeekly.com spoke to, the event will now take place in Anaheim, Calif. at the Honda Center, where Affliction’s first show, “Banned,” was held on July 19.
Sources close to the venue in Las Vegas say that ticket sales were abysmally slow for the event, which is believed to have contributed to the event’s postponement.
Not really a surprise, there was a free (yes free) MMA/boxing event in Las Vegas that didnt sell out, it had Kim Coutoure (sp) and Pete Spratt and it wasnt a sell out. When Dana says Las Vegas is their back yard he aint lying.
On the plus side Fedor could be back in time for this, as long he doesnt break a hand punching a Japanase (sp) olympic Wrestler/Judoka/some medalist on New Years Eve in Pride...
...thats it there is another Affliction show, officially the next Yamma Pit Fighting event hasnt been cancelled yet and the IFL has not officialy closed.
