The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has a new article online today about Lex Luger. The article details how Luger went from making $5 million a year as one of pro wrestling's top stars to the shape that he is in now where getting dressed and shaving are big challenges of his daily life because he is paralyzed.
"I was one of the strongest guys on the planet," Luger told the publication. "I was freaky strong before. I was bench-pressing 450 pounds my senior year of high school. I was a freak. Now I can't lift a one-pound dumbbell."
The article talks about how Luger has changed his life - dedicating it to Christ and helping others. The publication tells a story about Luger visiting with a young man that broke his neck in an automobile accident back in March and became a quadriplegic.
Luger's good friend, Sting (real name Steve Borden), told the AJC, "He used to be on the other end of the scale, as far as helping peopleā¦ He was known as 'The Narcissist.' His comfort was first and foremost. If he had still been that way when this happened, he'd probably be dead right now because he probably would have just given up."

Wow, that's crazy, and sorry for Lugar. But the article forgot to mention simply, how he became paralyzed? I saw Lugar make an appearance in TNA like a year and half ago even. So this is crazy, and ashame no doubt.

Didn't see this earlier. People critisize Luger for lack of in ring talent. Compare him to Hogan and he looked like a big man who would climb the ropes and could more than one move. Good to see he has a good attitude in life. I personally liked Luger in the ring.

He had what was though a spinal stroke. If you look on page 2 of "wrestling In General" theres a few things on Lugers health in there

Oh wow, thanks Liz. Hmm, I'm guessing from the steriods over the years his spine (and central nervous system) just went, since they were so weak? Either way I still can't believe Luger is paralyzed, what a shame. I liked Luger too NWA.
