The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has a new article online today about Lex Luger. The article details how Luger went from making $5 million a year as one of pro wrestling's top stars to the shape that he is in now where getting dressed and shaving are big challenges of his daily life because he is paralyzed.
"I was one of the strongest guys on the planet," Luger told the publication. "I was freaky strong before. I was bench-pressing 450 pounds my senior year of high school. I was a freak. Now I can't lift a one-pound dumbbell."
The article talks about how Luger has changed his life - dedicating it to Christ and helping others. The publication tells a story about Luger visiting with a young man that broke his neck in an automobile accident back in March and became a quadriplegic.
Luger's good friend, Sting (real name Steve Borden), told the AJC, "He used to be on the other end of the scale, as far as helping people… He was known as 'The Narcissist.' His comfort was first and foremost. If he had still been that way when this happened, he'd probably be dead right now because he probably would have just given up."
