So true NayNay Andre was bigger than life IMO and was one wrestling greatest men in and out of the ring. And I really didnt like the heel turn myself but I think Vince was wanting to let him get another shot in the limelight with the match with Hogan and even though he lost he still dominated the match and came within a hair of getting the win. I only wish Vince would have let carry the belt for a extneded period of time but unfortanately it never happened.

Yeah Andre never needed or wanted a world title in the 70's and early 80's when he was a major attraction traveling the world but after he turned heel and stopped traveling as much i think a short monster heel title run would of been nice.

Andre and Jake could have made some good champions and these two were victims of the whole Hulkamania time period and never got the title like I feel they should have. Andre IMO would have been a very dominate champ with his size and strength alone. Andre also had the popularity to have been a champ that would have been accepted by the fans.

All very true. I think after Hogan's first reign, when he went off to film No Holds Barred and relax his travelling schedule a bit, would have been a good time for experimentation. Randy Savage was a good start, but I don't think it should have stopped there. And I definitely think Hogan would have been more interesting in '89 as a challenger chasing Jake and Andre and all those guys instead of being, ho hum, on top of the mountain again and battling stiffs like Zeus. Oh, '89. What could have been!

I remember Andre the Giant wrestling in London in the late 1960's when he had just come over from his home in France, in those days he wrestled under the name of Jean Ferre this was before he went to The USA. I recall seeing Andre towards the end of his career when he came to the ringside at a show in London, it was pitiful to watch him trying to walk from the locker room to the ringside, a lot of the fan's gave him a standing ovation.

Must of been cool to see him in the beginning of his career Ian, and a more mobile Giant too. Geez, I remember like it was yesterday when Andre was Wrestling 2 or 3 Wrestlers in handicap matches, lol, those were the days. Yeah, it's ashame of course how bad Andre's body broke down towards the end, but his love for the sport definitely didn't, that's why he was still in the ring even though he shouldn't of been, but he loved the sport so much and the fans, respect, RIP.

In my opinion no wrestler loved the sport more and gave more to the fans than Andre. The wrestlers of today could really learn alot by going with how Andre did things and how his devotion went beyond his paycheck and to what the fans came to see in his matches. IMO when Andre passed away so did a big part of wrestling in a whole. RIP!

Some of Andre's last matches werent in the U.S. I believe there were two matches around 1991-92. In 1991 teaming with Giant Baba against Demolition (I've just seen the ending of this match) and in a six man tag in Mexico with none other than Bad News Brown. On Bad news' official site, he tells a story about that match in which Andre had a bad case of diahrrea and well....... it has to be read to be believed!! Bad News' site with andre story and more www.fortunecity.com/olympia/christie/29/id21.htm
