Boxer becomes Actor!
Lou Savarese is Max Baer in "Cinderella Man" tonight! Former heavyweight contender “Big” Lou Savarese is making a living nowadays as an actor although he is still looking to step inside the ring for another run at the title. Savarese – who is best known for giving former champ George Foreman all he could handle over twelve rounds in April 1997 - has had roles in “The Sopranos” and “Law and Order.” Tonight (Tuesday, May 31st), boxing fans can see Savarese portray the 30’s heavyweight champ Max Baer in the "Cinderella Man: The James Braddock Story" docomeentary airing on ESPN at 7 pm ET. “Baer was a champion during the Great Depression who was more attracted to Hollywood than to the ring,” commented Savarese. “Baer wise-cracked and clowned his way throughout his career, inside and outside the ring. He had one of the most powerful right hands in heavyweight history but he never did realize his potential.” (More)
