I recently watched some history on Jack Dempsey's boxing, "The Heavyweights: Big Punchers". I think Dempsey may be one of the best Heavyweights ever if not the best.
Year 1919: Jack Dempsey vs Jess Willard (Heavyweight Champion)
Jess Willard I believe was undefeated and destroyed everybody he fought, also he was never knocked down. He stood a towering 6'7 which was huge for back then.
Dempsey weighed 190 for most of his boxing career, but did he sure know how to use it with a combination of Lightening Speed and Thunderous Power Punches.
Result of Match: Jess Willard was never knocked down in his career up to this point, but on this day Jack Dempsey knocked the Giant down 7 times in the first round, simply amazing. The match went 3 rounds. At the end of the 3 round, Jess Willard gave up, he didn't come out for the 4 round. After the beating Willard took I don't think most would blame him. Jack Dempsey now becomes the World Heavyweight Champion.
Anybody have any other Jack Dempsey stories or memories?
