AWA for me,I loved it just seemed less serious than the NWA and more fun,plus it had Rick Martel,Nick Bockwinkle,Freebirds,Stan Hansen,Hulk Hogan,Andre The Giant,etc

I grew up with NWA so Id have to go with them. Although I did watch some AWA and enjoyed it very much as well.

I loved the AWA too but I gotta go with the NWA. I'd rather watch Flair vs. Rhodes in 86 than Hennig vs. Bockwinkel. When they were head-to-head, NWA was better. The only time the AWA was truly better was when Hogan, Andre and then later the Road Warriors were there. Once they left, it started going downhill.

I'd go with the AWA. That's what I grew up on because I got cable.
The first time I went to the wrestling matches was an AWA card in Denver in 1982 or 1983.
I miss those days.

AWA was a really good promotion with alot of stars who started there and it really had some great matches as well. Freebirds vs Road Warriors, Stan Hansen vs Rick Martel, and so many others. But I personally enjoyed the NWA with the Rhodes vs Flair, Koloffs vs RnR Express, Midnight Express vs Rock n Roll Express, Blanchard vs Garvin and etc.

They were both a hell of alot better than the wwf. But vince is a cuthroat business man and made a more modern professional show on tv. The 80's wwf characters were over the top and stupid, especially the ultimate warrior, couldn't even talk. Not saying there weren't alot of good wrestlers in the wwf. But vince just bought wrestlers from the awa and nwa and gave them stupid characters. Look at the awa hulk hogan to the lil dudes wwf version(crap). But it sold  |
