A few years ago when I was working for AMTRAK I met former WCCW Ring/Commentary Announcer Mark Laurence. He was on his way to a Speaking encagement for a Church Group. Well being a mark that I am (even that I am a former wrestler myself I still mark out) I introduced myself and remembered who he was. He was really excited that he was remembered and we started talking about the old WCCW days. The saddest part of the conversation was how Fritz knew all his sons had problems and he completely ignored it, and all he wanted them to do is wrestle and nothing else. Talked for almost 2 hours. Very professional man. One of the few good men from the Wrestling World.

Cool story. I always thought he had a very calm speaking voice.

Sounds like Mark Laurence is pretty cool. That must of been cool meeting and talking to him. That's ashame that Fritz didn't care about his sons problems? What did he only care about them being in the ring and making money for him?

He was THE voice for Texas wrestling as far i am concerned.Throughout the years of USWA and Global ,the announcing just was'nt the same without Marc.He knew when to be calm and cool to sell the storylines, but also balanced it with genuine excitement and enthusiasim when the action called for it.Great story about a great announcer.

Mark was the voice to a generation of Texas wrestling fans. A calm voice in chaos at times. Fritz's attitude towards his sons comes as a surprise. Maybe he was thinking as a promoter and not as a father.

Fritz's attitude towards his sons comes as a surprise. Maybe he was thinking as a promoter and not as a father. Maybe so, and that's ashame then, family should always come before money.

It should always...well almost always...don't want to include the McMahons in this conversation.

It should always...well almost always...don't want to include the McMahons in this conversation. Man you got that right Alpha. McMahons put money before anything including family.
