Hi Everyone,
I have only just found this site and I have not had time yet to study it, I thought that I would like to introduce myself first. My name is Ian Dowland (Ian to everyone) I am 55 years old and I have been interested in Wrestling since 1958, I went to my first British Wrestling Show when I was 7 years old and have been following the sport since then, dureing the 1970's I was a Wrestling Promoter around Hampshire in The UK, I was also a referee and I managed 3 Wrestlers.
I saw my first American style Wrestling 40 years ago when I used to buy old Cine Film, you got 1 bout on each reel of film, you had to put this reel of film onto a Cine Projecter and show the pictures onto a 6 foot screen (the same priciple as they use in Cinema's or Picture Houses), this was many years before video tapes were invented, I had a reel with Georgeous George on it and others included 'Jersey' Joe Walcott and Prima Canerra who were both Boxers before Wrestlers.
I saw my first 'live' American Show at The Royal Albert Hall in London when The WWF came to town on October 3rd. 1991, the programme included 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper and Typhoon in a 20 man 'Battle Royal', other bouts included was The Barbarian v The British Bulldog, Legion of Doom v Power & Glory, Rick Flair v Tito Santana, The Rockers v The Nasty Boys, Earthquake v Big Boss Man, Texas Tornado v The Mountie, Jim Duggan v The Undertaker.
I will now have a look at the rest of this Website and I will talk with you all again on other threads ect., I hope that I have not already bored you and put you all to sleep.
