Hated him! horrible commentator all that 'ooooh my' stuff after nearly every move and pinfall was just annoying and he either couldn't or wouldn't allow Bobby Heenan to shine. He rarely responded to anything the Brain said and on the odd occasion he did, he would try to make the Brain seem stupid and unfunny.

Remember, Tony was getting fed lines by Bischoff during his last run in WCW. And you wonder why the things he said sounded bad??

Yeah he was fed a line about Mick Foley winning the title on Nitro one night thinking it would hurt RAWs ratings but in fact it helped the WWFs ratings. He made a comment that "Tonight on RAW Mick Foley is going to win the WWF title, that'll put butts in the seat." Well it put alot of points on RAWS TV ratings.

Eric had a brilliant mind at times.....but also was a major idiot as well. I don't blame Tony for the Foley incident....it was Bischoff's stupidity.

Yeah, I believe he was told to make the comments about Foley.

But he also sucked in his run with the wwe - the guy simply can't and couldn't measure up with the greats of commentary.

True but remember that an announcer is told what lines to follow and in generalities what to say and not say. It Tony is told to act vanilla next to Jesse Ventura, Tony will act vanilla to save his job.

Tony had alot to give but I dont think he was giving the opportunity because the commentators he worked with were greats and then he worked for Bischoff who is a real jerk to some of the workers in the industry.

Very true, Scottingraham. Tony did shine in his early days with the NWA though when he had Gordon Solie teaching him a few tricks. Not a bad guy to learn from.

No doubt Gordon Solie was one amazing commentator and he was the rule for commentating IMO.

He was...the measuring stick. I pop in a couple of old NWA tapes and here Gordon & Bob Caudle calling a card. Magic!
