Ohmygosh you guys!! You’re not going to believe this! Okay, did everybody see Mickie James’ tv debut last week?? Yeah well, Mickie James aka Alexis Laree has had a developmental contract with the WWE for a while now. If you’ve ever been on wwe.com I’m sure you’ve seen the section on there where you can send in your questions/comments or whatever that gets sent to Creative. I’d never done this until after the RAW Homecoming show, but for some reason I did and I said that the show was amazing and the only thing I thought was missing was REAL Women’s wrestling. I said that’s what the fans want, so why keep women like Alexis Laree waiting? Then the very next week she got the call-up. I think that’s freakin’ awesome and you may think that I had nothing to do with it, but I like to think I played at least a small role, lol.
But seriously, they sometimes bring in people on a whim like that. Take this for example. Here’s a quote from Lita’s book.
Prior to that, Lita had a developmental deal, just like Laree. The very next day at the Smackdown! taping, she was told that Creative was interested in pairing her with Papi Chulo, who would later come to be known as Essa Rios to the WWE audience. And this of course would be her official start in the WWE.
I’d like to think I did something to bring Alexis Laree into “the loop”, as Lita put it. I mean, it’s possible right??
Regardless of whether or not I had anything to do with it, I’m excited to see what Laree can do. In an interview a while back, Lita had said that she was interested in working with Laree. Whether or not you like Lita, that says something about Laree, because Lita is one of the greatest and most accomplished women’s wrestlers to ever be in this business.
But seriously, they sometimes bring in people on a whim like that. Take this for example. Here’s a quote from Lita’s book.
“No one told me I needed to be there, but I decided to go down to Greensboro, North Carolina for the final Raw of 1999. I didn’t want to appear pushy, but I figured, why not? As I drove down there, I realized that I wasn’t going to make it there on time–wrestlers are expected to arrive at the building at one o’clock on TV days. I got worried, thinking, Maybe I shouldn’t go, because I’m not going to be showing up on time. But then I thought, Well, I’m not technically late, because I’m not even supposed to be there! I kept going back and forth, back and forth, in my head and finally showed up at the arena in the late afternoon.
J.R. saw me hanging around backstage and said hello. An hour later he told me that he went ahead and put me on the payroll and that I’d get my travel information for the following week at the next day’s Smackdown! taping in Richmond.
To this day, I don’t know what would’ve happened if I hadn’t come down to Greensboro. Who knows where I’d be if I’d sat at home thinking, Well, they’ll call me whenever they’re ready for me. But from that day on I was officially in the loop.”
