Major Backstage News: Extensive Report On Matt Hardy's WWE Return Date Added: July 12, 2005 Story By: Ben Johnson Source: PWTorch.com
Matt Hardy returned to WWE RAW on Monday as part of a "worked shoot" angle. In addition to attacking Hardy and getting "arrested" for his actions, the WWE wrestler also threw in a plug for Ring Of Honor and some anti-WWE and anti-Johnny Ace comments.
While the fact that Hardy returned to WWE has led to question about the sincerity of his message board posts, sources indicate that the beginning of the story was absolutely true: Lita did have an affair with Edge. Thus, the initial sympathy for Hardy's position was deserved, although sometime between the initial fallout and Monday's RAW, Hardy began working his message board visitors.
Matt Hardy officially inked a return deal with WWE a week or two ago; the company began showing serious interest after the Lita-Edge wedding, in which Hardy's teased entrance video elicited a huge pop from the crowd. McMahon took that as proof that bringing Hardy back into the fold was a worthwhile investment.
In signing with WWE, Hardy turned down a very lucrative offer from TNA. Although the looser contract was appealing, at the end of the day, Hardy opted to go for the company with more exposure and a brighter future. Had TNA announced a deal with Spike TV a few weeks ago, Monday's return angle might not have happened.
Sources at RAW report that Matt Hardy did not have much of a presence backstage at the show. He simply showed up, worked his angle, and left. If he did communicate with Edge and Lita, it was done in a very private setting.
Matt Hardy will next be seen this Saturday in Ring Of Honor. It is unknown for how long WWE will allow Hardy to work outside dates as part of the "anti-WWE" gimmick.

Well, apparently, the bastard is now workin' for the WWE, but on "his terms", according to his forum. I'm not happy about this at all, because I think Matt's been a total @sshole the past month or so. Yeah, it was exciting and new to see him attack Edge from behind, and then come out that first time. And I'll admit, I was a Matt sympathizer when I heard what Amy and Adam did to him. But after watching Amy on Byte This, and hearin' Matt when he called in...come on, how f*cking immature can you be?! He's a 30-year-old man, and he sounds/acts like a ten-year-old screamin' cuz somebody stole his ice cream cone. I don't like vindictive people, and Mr. Hardy certainly wanted the fans to know that he is just that. I wouldn't lose sleep if I never saw him on WWE television again, and I'm none too excited about the prospect of him going to TNA. I never was a big Matt fan during his singles' run in WWE, and even when he was tagging with Jeff, I always liked Jeff better...because he came off as real. Matt's a poser, actin' all high and mighty, like he could never do anything wrong. Yeah, Amy and Adam were wrong in having their affair, but it happens every day. Not to make a blanket statement, and I hope none o' the ladies on this board (although I've only seen like one other than myself), but Matt's actin' like a girl. Suck it up, it happens, move on. Just 'cuz he's a celebrity doesn't make him any more special, or grant him any more sympathy than any other normal, regular Joe/Julie (however you wanna refer to it). I wish him luck in wherever his career takes him, but I certainly hope that after Summerslam (I'd bet money that him and Edge are gonna be fighting) I don't have to see his @ss again.

Well see you have some strong opinions on him, nice, lol.
I'm starting to agree with you on that. He's kinda a lier in the "real" world for one example lying to his fans on his chat forum with his postings. Saying he never signed a WWE contract? Plus he has no self respect since Vince fired him, then Matt's really mad at the WWE, then Vince says, "hmmm...wanna come back?" Matt, "sure, ok". Lol, he seems like a shallow puppet in a way too now, maybe selfish just the same way Lita treated him too.

of course Matt isnt going to tell the truth that he signed with wwe on his website forums because wwe would take his site down...this angle is supposed to look like matt is just a regular as JR said "fan" attacking edge...anyway he is not suppose to give out spoilers on his site ...so saying he did sign with the wwe would ruin the angle...get it?

In a recent article I read online even AJ Styles put the angle over. He said something about 'If this was a work, he wouldn't be taking indie bookings' or something which I found funny as anyone can see it's a worked shoot.
Matt should leave the 'real' Loose Cannon gimmick to Brian Pillman, as Brian did it so much better.

Well, other than the fact that the camera stays on him and they don't cut him off, you would think he would have came from the crowd last Monday unstead of from backstage if it wasn't a work, ya know? I mean, I guess it's possible that he could get backstage, but I highly doubt he could make it all the way to guerrilla and out onto the ramp without being stopped if he wasn't supposed to be there.
I personnally think the whole way the WWE has went about this situation from the very beginning was BS and my opinion hasn't changed any.

The first time Matt came on WWE TV a few weeks ago was awesome. For the first time in 11 years, I was speechless. I couldn't tell real from fake. But like I said, my eyes have been opened to the real person that one Matt Hardy is...so f*ck him...he can take his broken heart and step in front of a speeding 18-wheeler for all I care...okay, that was mean...but seriously, the surprise/work factor of this angle has been completely blown away by the fact that he's been on WWE programming for three weeks straight...I don't wanna see him anymore.

I bet that was a good match, too. Hardy is a superb technical wrestler...well, better than his brother. And AJ is simply "Phenomenal", as his monniker suggests. I would've loved to have been there for that one. But that don't mean I like his punk @ss (Hardy, not AJ, cuz AJ's cool regardless).
