I have been watching tapes of the Ricky Steamboat - Randy Savage feud from late 1986 to 1987. Not just matches, but angles and interviews.
Would you guys agree that little or nothing came close to the level of quality and intensity these guys brought to their work, both inside and outside the ring?
And is there any other feud for the next five years that managed to equal it or top it? What do you guys think?

i think bret v shawn cause it was 2 top guys who you knew hated each other for real
Austin v rock but that was done in pacthes off and on which i like cause i hate it when wrestlers are enemys then 2 months later tag partners.
and i have liked the cena v edge but the wrestling don't match the mic skills (cena i blame)

I'm not saying these feuds have topped the ones of Rock/Austin or Savage/Steamboat but i think:
Triple H/Michaels in 2002 was great, heated feud. I think that was due to the history those guys had together and know each other extremely well. The chemistry was just right.
Eddie Guerrero/Mysterio in 2005. Probably the hottest feud on the year. It was also great to see Mysterio willing to have his son involved in the storyline. It made it personal and got the fans fired up

Savage/Steamboat did have one of the greatest feuds of all time and really ranks up there. But IMO Flair/Rhodes feuds were better and I think the reason I believe this is because I grew up watching these two every weekend and in live shows. But there is no doubt the Savage vs Steamboat battles were epic especially WM IIIs match.

I wish I had it all on one tape or DVD. It was definitely a great time in Wrestling and they went at it 100% inside and outside the ring. It really made for a great match up and was perfect as a face vs a heel. Probably not as good, but close to it and I actually liked it better was the Macho Man and Hulk Hogan feud when he first went to the WWF. Macho winning the first 2 matches which I don't know if many knew that, then a 3rd match being a Lumberjack match with Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, and others outside the ring, a great classic match. In general I think Savage had some of the best feuds with people, he was really talented when it came to that and probably underated, he showed great dedication and really got into them all. Some other feuds he had were vs: Shawn Michaels, George the "Animal" Steele, Ric Flair, the Honky Tonk Man, and the Million Dollar Man, all made great feuds as well. Jake the "Snake" Roberts was a great one too but not long enough.

You're right, Iceman. Great feuds. I don't seem to recall the Randy Savage vs. Shawn Michaels feud, although they definitely had a couple matches in front of the cameras. Flair vs. Rhodes was an awesome feud, but most of the greatness had little to do with skilled matches and more to do with the personalities involved. Rhodes was a great talker and an excellent psychologist in the ring, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him a ring tactician. Then again, that goes for Honky Tonk, Hogan, Steele, Rock, and others mentioned in this thread. Yeah, too bad the Snake vs. Macho Man feud didn't last longer. That one had me at the proverbial edge of my seat.

Yeah, too bad the Snake vs. Macho Man feud didn't last longer. That one had me at the proverbial edge of my seat. Lol, yeah, I liked seeming them go at it too. I watched not to long ago, "Tuesday in Texas" (I think it was called), when Jake pretty much destroyed Macho, that was deep. That feud started during Macho's wedding when Jake sent them a present, in it being a Snake, lol. Thought that feud would of went a lot further, could of been great. Shawn Micheals and Macho was decent, but not too long. They both were managed by Sherri at a time which made it more interesting and that's when the Heart Break Kid was big and first went on his own (not tag-team anymore), and very cocky, lol. Glad you agree on most of them 80s 4 Life in general. Well Ric Flair is a great entertainer, so any feud he was in was a great one. The Flair Steamboat back in the day was a great feud.

Thanx, Iceman.
I could be wrong, but didn't Sherri part ways with the Macho Man at WrestleMania VII on March 24th, 1991, while Shawn was still a face? He only took on Sherri after his heel turn on December 4th later that same year, at which point Macho was a face again. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

At WrestleMania VII, Savage lost a career match against The Ultimate Warrior. Martel attacked Savage but was thrown from the ring by Elizabeth, who was watching from the audience. When she and Savage parted ways following the career match, Martel became the right hand woman of the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.
Sensational Sherri on the 1989 Summerslam program cover. She managed Ted DiBiase until early 1992 and then parted ways with him after she announced that she was in love with Shawn Michaels.
