This week for That's my story and I'm sticking to it I'll be telling you who I think the winners will be at TNA Genesis.
There's a Booby Roode invitational and it's obvious that Rhoode will win the match. It will probably just be a squash match and I don't think it will be a thirty minute classic match. TNA has been giving Rhoode a push as the next star in TNA but I think Rhoode lacks the mic skills and the charisma to become a star.
The Ron "The Truth" Killings and Lance Hoyt v.s. Austin Starr and Alex Shelly could be an okay match and I think The Truth and Hoyt will win the match. Killings is a former two time NWA Heavy Weight champion and I think if he was given a push he could be a main event wrestler. Killings has the mic skills, charisma, and the in ring ability to be a main event wrestler. When the 4LK dis banned the other members were involved in other storylines but Killings wasn't involved in a storyline. The James Gang was formed, LAX was formed, and Killings wasn't involved in a storyline. Hoyt is an okay wrestler but I don't think he will be a main event wrestler. Austin Starr is a good X Division wrestler and he defiantly has the skill to be the X Division champion. It's cool to see that Starr has developed a character that can be used in a storyline and Nash being a manager has helped the storyline. Alex Shelly is a good wrestler and the camera gimmick has developed a character that can be used in a storyline.
The VKM v.s. Matt Bently and Johny Devine could be an okay match and I think the VKM will win the match. It will be interesting to see what happens with the VKM will attempt an "invasion" similar to what DX did when they "invaded" WCW. It will also be interesting to see if DX responses to the comments that BG James made on Impact.
The A.J. Styles/Christain Cage match should be a good match but I think it's a match that should have happened months ago during Cage's title reign. Cage had a weak title reign because he won the title three months after his debut in TNA and when you start at the top of the ladder the only direction to go is back down the ladder. That was TNA's major mistake when Cage signed with TNA, they didn't give him a solid push to the title and he looked like a paper champion. Cage has good mic skills, alot of charisma, and some wrestling ability but when he won the title without a push it made his title reign weak. I think if Cage and Styles had a feud during Cage's title reign it would have improved Cage's title reign. It's tough to pick a winner in this match because the feud hasn't been pushed alot on Impact. I'll pick Styles to win the match but it's more of a guess then a prediction because it's possible Cage could win the match. I'll pick Cage to win the match and it will be interesting to see if the Cage/Styles feud continues after the PPV.
The tag team title match should be a good match and it's another match that it's tough to pick a winner. LAX won the title for a month, Styles and Daniels, won the titles, and then LAX won the titles back. The reason it's tough to pick a winner is because LAX hasn't really had a good run as the tag team champions so it wouldn't make sense for them to have another short reign as tag champions if TNA is trying to push them as a good tag team but they have been attacking many TNA wrestlers the past few weeks so it would make sense for AMW to win the match. I'll pick AMW to win the match but again it's more of a guess then a prediction because it's possible either team could win the match. A win for AMW could also help AMW become "good guy" after a heel run with Jeff Jarrett being the leader of a heel stable. It will also be interesting to see if Petey Willams will be involved in the match after he was attacked by LAX on Impact. Petey hasn't really been involved in a storyline since Team Canada dis banned and it will be interesting to see what role Petey will play in the storyline.
The X Division title match should be a good match and I think Christopher Daniels will retain the X Division title. The X Division has been unstable the past month because just in the past month there have been four champions and the title changed three titles. I think Senshi should have had a longer title reign and I think he could have improved the X Division if he was given a longer title reign. It didn't really make sense the Styles won the title because it made Sabin look like a weak champion because he only had the title for a few weeks. It didn't really make sense that Styles only had the title for a week and now Daniels is the X Division champion. Another thing that doesn't make sense is that if Sabin just lost the title why is he getting at title shot at the PPV? What did he do to earn a title shot? It doesn't make sense that Sabin is getting a title shot but it's cool that Sabin is starting to develop somewhat of a character to build a storyline. The X Division has alot of good wrestlers but not alot of characters to build a storyline. The match was announced on Impact and there hasn't really been any build up to the match so it will be interesting to see if the feud continues after the PPV.
The NWA title match should be a good match and I think it's obvious that Sting will retain the title because TNA pushed Sting to the title for months. It wouldn't make sense for Sting to only have the title for a month and I think Sting will have the title for a few months. Abyss is a good wrestler and he can have good matches with anyone. Abyss has had good matches with X Division wrestlers and heavy weight wrestlers. Abyss deserves to win the title but i don't think he will win the title at the PPV.
The Kurt Angle/Samoa Joe match should be a great match and it is a dream match. I've written alot of columns about who I think is going to win at a PPV but I have no idea who's going to win this match. If Angle wins Samoa Joe will be defeated and the year and a half long push might seem less important because Joe didn't win the NWA title when he was undefeated. If Joe wins Angle will look weak and will look like he can't compete in TNA. I'm going to pick Kurt Angle to win the match because Samoa Joe has defeated almost everyone in TNA and it would make sense for Angle to defeat Joe because Angle is a former World champion. Samoa Joe can't go undefeated for his whole career so what is a better choice to have someone defeat Joe then Kurt Angle? If Joe was defeated it actually wouldn't make Joe look weak because it took an Olympic gold medalist to defeat him. This match alone could be worth the $30 to see the PPV and it will be interesting to see the buy rate for the PPV.
Overall I think Genesis will be a good PPV.
Until next week
