The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that TNA's current employment philosophy is now shifting towards signing wrestlers to long-term contracts with a set weekly pay as opposed to bringing in wrestlers for TV on a short-term pay-per-appearance deal with a typical 10 guaranteed dates. The new standard long-term TNA contract is a three year deal with one year guaranteed and TNA having the option to pick up the last two years. TNA continues to handle independent bookings for their wrestlers and the more bookings TNA wrestlers take, the more they will receive as a bonus at the end of each quarter.
The 8/10 edition of TNA iMPACT! drew a final 0.7 cable rating with a 1.4 share. That is a fairly significant drop after the show rebounded to a 0.9 rating last week and had been settling in the 0.8 range the last few weeks. That is obviously not the best of news for TNA, considering the show this past Thursday was the "go home" show for the Hard Justice PPV tonight. The last time iMPACT! hit a 0.7 rating was back on March 11 when the show was in its Saturday night timeslot.

Sounds better to sign them longer and also they can use them as much as they want, instead of limiting their appearances on any given week when they could be used in a good match or storyline.

I think that this is a good idea. TNA spends too much on the Steiners and the Stings and doesn't focus on the Montys and others. This will force those who do not want to sign a long term deal, I assume, like Steiner and Sting and it would in turn force them to push other stars and actually have a compelling product passed a 1.0 rating... TNA will not survive another year by signing short term solutions to long term problems.
