Do you guys think it helps or hurts the health of the wrestling industry when angles are short, sometimes one-night-only, quickly abandoned and seemingly pointless. For example, The Ultimate Warrior's win over Super Ninja on Saturday Night's Main Event in November 1988. The match had no build-up, was a virtual squash, and the character (played by Rip Oliver, I believe) was never heard from again, though he was managed by Mr. Fuji.
Can you think of other examples of these quick deals? And do you think they hurt or help the flow of the product?

I think it could but IMO not that much only because the guys who are one match and done are usually from indys and not really ready to take the next step. I guess they would do this if a particular superstar is between feuds and waiting to get the next one going or if hes used in a house show to keep the superstar from being away from action to long. This is just my opinion and not necessarily so. Giant Gonzalez comes to mind. He really only was show cased in the match with Undertaker and never really stuck around maybe alittle longer than some though, also Zeus was another short term deal.

Yeah, and both those guys managed to stay employed for over six months.

If anyone ever gets a chance to pick-up or watch a Raven shoot interview...do so. He gives an excellent explanation on why their can be 1 month, 3 month, 6, 9 & 12 month programs involving wrestlers...most not in the main event picture. Getting the guys under contract long enough plus staying healthy determines an angle....if you have a writing staff that can actually write a wrestling program longer than 1 week.

Interesting perspective. Quote the Raven - Nevermore.
