This week for That's my story and I'm sticking to it I'll be telling you what I think of the ECW T.V. show.
When ECW was relaunched it was something that many wrestling fans wanted to see but when ECW fans seen the T.V. show it was obvious that the new ECW wasn't going to be anything similar to the original ECW. Many ECW fans wanted to see the original ECW but if you think about it the new ECW was doomed from the start not to be anything similar to the original ECW. The WWE can't expect the ECW T.V. show to seem like the original ECW when the WWE tapes the ECW T.V. in front of a WWE crowd. The matches have WWE rules and the only time there are hardcore rules is when there are "Extreme Rules" matches but when there aren't hardcore rules some of the hardcore wrestlers don't have as good of matches. The original ECW had hardcore rules in the matches and that's why the ECW hardcore wrestlers had good matches. The Sandman doesn't have wrestling ability but he was one of the main stars in the original ECW. The Sandman got over with the fans because he had the Enter Sandman music, he had the ring entrance, and he would swing the cane. What does The Sandman have in the new ECW? He has generic music, the ring entrance is in a WWE arena, and The Sandman can't use the cane in most of his matches. It was Sabu's trademark to use a table but in the new ECW Sabu rarely uses a table because the matches have WWE rules. The wrestlers don't wrestle in the front row and there aren't any dives into the front row which was something that happened often in the original ECW. The original ECW had more realistic characters not zombie or vampire characters. It seems like the WWE is just trying to market the ECW name but they aren't using the hardcore wrestling that made ECW one of the main wrestling companies.
There are many new ECW wrestling but most of these wrestlers are anything but extreme. If you consider most of the new ECW wrestlers most of them are developmental wrestlers that aren't good enough for Raw or Smackdown so they wrestle in ECW and wrestlers that didn't have anything to do on Raw or Smackdown so they wrestle in ECW. Test wasn't a good wrestler on Raw or Smackdown and he was released so why is he wrestling in ECW? Test just doesn't have the skill to become a star. Mike Knox is a terrible wrestler and he shouldn't be wrestling in ECW. Kevin Thorn is a terrible wrestler and he hasn't really shown any potential to become a good wrestler. The vampire gimmick might work on Raw or Smackdown but the gimmick is ridiculous in ECW. CM Punk is a great wrestler and one of the few new ECW wrestlers that could help ECW. If you've seen some of CM Punk has alot of wrestling ability and he had many great matches in ROH. CM Punk has the potential to become a star and it's possible he could win the ECW title. Matt Striker shouldn't be in ECW and The Sandman v.s. Matt Striker isn't exactly an extreme match. It seems like the only reason Striker is in ECW is because the WWE creative team didn't have anything for him to do on Raw or Smackdown. That also seems to be the case with the four newest ECW wrestlers. The Great Khali, Davari, Burke, and Sylvester Tukey are now wrestling in ECW but why? Why are wrestlers that aren't hardcore wrestlers in ECW?
It seems like the new ECW is trying to bury the old ECW because most of the new ECW wrestlers defeat the original ECW wrestlers. The Big Show is the ECW champion and I think an original ECW wrestler should be the ECW champion. The WWE had The Big Show defeat Batista, Kane, and Ric Flair to try to make him seem like a legitimate champion but The Big Show still isn't a legitimate ECW champion.
The WWE will make money from the new ECW but the new ECW will never be anything similar to the original ECW and the new ECW is just another WWE brand.
Until next week
