Hogan and Macho deserved the push based on there performance in the ring. Bret was just an ok tag-team partner, he didn't deserve the push, and surely not for his mic / interview skills either, Macho had some great funny interviews. Even now today, Macho could be a great star based on his mic skills alone since he's older, something Bret never had.
I really don't think Macho did in the 80s, maybe later in his career when he was in WCW, but then again, who didn't do steriods, Koko Beware, lol?

Hogan and Macho deserved the push based on there performance in the ring. www.atorsmst3ksite.com/hahaha.WMVSorry, but to say Hogan should have had a push based on skill and Bret should not have is just nuts. I mean I don't rag on Hogan as much as other, but he was not great, and was usually downright terrible when in the States. Bret was just an ok tag-team partner, he didn't deserve the push, and surely not for his mic / interview skills either, Macho had some great funny interviews. I disagree, however most people would agree Bret didn't deserve a push on interview skill. His style was simplistic as a babyface, and did it's purpose, no it wasn't filled with a ton of catchphrases and loud yelling, but he always got the point across. Bret as a hell was an EXCELLENT promo man. Even now today, Macho could be a great star based on his mic skills alone since he's older, something Bret never had. Yeah, TNA sure turned around the second Macho came in. I really don't think Macho did in the 80s, maybe later in his career when he was in WCW, but then again, who didn't do steriods, Koko Beware, lol? Exactly, I bet Koko did too. Everyone did, even Bret Hart.

Both were the best of their era, but they both suffer from the misfortune of being sandwiched between the two biggest booms in history.
We sometimes make the mistake of taking out all the factors when comparing wrestlers and eras but I don't think its fair to Bret or HBK to compare them to Hogan/Savage/Austin/Rock. They were just different and dominated their period.
Can you say that they were the reason their period wasn't has big as the others, sure but there are more factors at play than that. All things being equal however, they are all-time legends with great legacies.

Recently (the last few years)....I give Shawn Michaels respect because he's been representing strong since day 1 in the WWF and now WWE. Him and "Scary" Sherri were great together too back in the day. I liked when Shawn Michaels used to battle the "Macho Man", they had some great matches. Shawn also seems like he has a lot of love for the sport since he has wrestled through injuries and is still a top Wrestler in the WWE today.

I don't think they were overrated, they were both very accomplished wrestlers who could carry almost anyone to an exciting and entertaining match.
Although i do agree with a point that Iceman made earlier on -

I don't think they were overated.
Shawn was and is one of the best Sports Entertainers in the world and is capable of haveing great matches with just about anyone and he plays the best "Babyface in Peril".
Bret was what he said he was and that was a great technical wrestler. My own problem with Bret is that i think he sometimes feel into the trap of putting on matches that HE as a fan would enjoy and That HE would like to see and that sometimes would handycape the match.
Like with Sid and Yoko they were not technical wrestlers so Brett working a technical style match kind of handycaped the match because they couldn't realy exchange holds with him convincingly.
Were as Shawn would addapt his style some what and make the match work on some level not always a great levele but by enlarge a watchable level.
and as satated eariler in this thread "Stone Cold" may have saved the WWF/E and started its Attitued era Boom period but it was Bret and Shawn who built him up. As well as keeping the Ship afloat (along with Taker, Foley and some others) until he was ready to take the wheel.
